The final speaker for the Modern Railways RVE conference has been confirmed. Alex Burrows, Director of the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE) at the University of Birmingham, will give a presentation about BCRRE’s ongoing work programme. Mr Burrows will present alongside speakers from Bombardier, Eversholt Rail, Porterbrook, Red Lion Controls and SNC-Lavalin.
BCRRE had already confirmed its involvement with Modern Railways RVE by bringing 10¼-inch gauge locomotive Hydrogen Hero, the UK’s first fully operating hydrogen train, to the show. Now visitors will have the opportunity to hear further about BCRRE’s pioneering work in the field of railway research. BCRRE is the largest university-based centre for railway research and education in Europe, with more than 140 researchers and staff developing world-leading new technologies and products for trains, railway systems and infrastructure that will deliver a better, more reliable and efficient railway to the UK.
The conference at Modern Railways RVE, chaired by Modern Railways columnist Ian Walmsley, is a key element of the show, to be held on 4 October at the Derby Arena, and the 2018 show offers a varied programme of speakers. The full conference timetable will be confirmed shortly.
