Applications are invited from suppliers for the industry-leading RVE Meet The Buyer event at Modern Railways RVE 2020.
Rail Forum Midlands is again co-ordinating RVE Meet The Buyer, which will take place during the Modern Railways RVE show on 5 November at Derby Arena. RFM has organised RVE Meet The Buyer for the past two years, and at last year’s show no fewer than 310 appointments involving 41 buyers from 20 companies and four countries were scheduled and completed.
RVE Meet The Buyer gives suppliers from the rolling stock sector the opportunity to pitch their products and services to leading organisations from across the industry. Already 14 companies have confirmed they will send buyers to the 2020 show, with more expected to join them in the weeks ahead; a full list is provided at the bottom of this article. In previous years RFM has worked with the Department for International Trade to secure international buyers for the show, and if international travel for in-person meetings is not possible we are investigating alternative solutions to ensure suppliers gain maximum value from the event.
A new application process this year will be in two stages. Initially, suppliers should register at www.midlandsrail.co.uk/rvemtb, with registration closing on 4 September. After registration, a link will be sent with an application form which will enable suppliers to target their applications at specific buyers, and these must be submitted by 11 September. Once buyers have selected which suppliers they wish to meet, RFM will arrange a schedule of appointments and circulate this to all participants.
Companies who are not Modern Railways RVE exhibitors or members of Rail Forum Midlands will this year be required to pay a small administration fee to participate in RVE Meet The Buyer, to reflect the cost of organising the event. This fee will be collected by RFM, and suppliers required to pay this fee must pay the invoice prior to progressing to the application stage.
With the limitations posed by Covid, it is likely we will be able to host fewer appointments this year, making it important suppliers submit strong and targeted applications. Modern Railways RVE exhibitors and Rail Forum Midlands members will benefit from exclusive best practice guidance in submitting their application, as well as an online support webinar to be held in mid-August.
Visitor registration for Modern Railways RVE is now open on the show website. To register to participate in RVE Meet The Buyer visit the Rail Forum Midlands website at www.midlandsrail.co.uk/rvemtb.
